Learning to listen … sure there are many ways to do so. One exercise which is helpful to develop the awareness of the sounding environment is the following little ear-teaser: Chose one moment to begin and then start hearing with your inner ear what you heard just the moment before. Then if you got the sound, try to add a sound or noise you heard before the first one. The more sounds you got to remember, the harder it gets as you will experience. The best to start off with that exercise is in a quite moment when nobody disturbs you. You will be surprised what sounds even a so called “quite moment” brings along.
